And it's been awhile
Since I could say
That I wasn't addicted
It's been awhile
Since I could say
I loved myself as well
And it's been awhile
Since I've gone and
****ed things up
Just like I always do
It's been awhile since I've written on this blog. Things have been okay. Good days and bad days, eating-wise.
For the record I went 18 days before falling off the wagon for a few, and then I went 4-5 days eating good again. Since then it's been up and down.
That all changes now. Well more specifically tomorrow.
I have a:
6 WEEK PLAN
That's:
-42 days
--1008 hours
---60480 minutes
----3628800 seconds
As someone once said, lets get 'er done!

I have a new goal. It's to see this go right off the chart, every day under my calorie target. With the potluck coming on Friday, I may just have to settle for net calories under target, which currently looks like this:
Apparently I burned off all the calories I ate on the first 2 days of this streak. That doesn't sound healthy?
Regardless, I should get up early and hit the gym on Friday to balance off the potluck. Yeesh, not really a morning person.

15 days in a row of eating healthy-ish and under my calorie goal of 1650. By healthy-ish, I mean no bad food like fast food or junk food and trying to eat less processed food, more veggies and fruit, and avoid salt.

When I started this 15 days ago I never expected to go this long, I didn't even have a goal in mind. I just treated it the same as when I quit smoking, with an absolutely no cheating policy. I had to quit eating bad stuff cold turkey, and take the concepts of rewarding and cheating out of my vocabulary. That was the only fore-planning and thought that went into it. So far so good.

I'm going to an Easter potluck on Good Friday. I haven't decided yet if I will allow anything extra. It's the only thing standing between me and 30 days.

I added a new 2013 goal :)

It's been 10 days straight staying under my goal, without eating any fast food or junk food. My previous record was 5 days. Guess that worked because I lost 7 lbs! :)

Good Host iced tea. This shit is like crack to a junkie for me. Another thing I avoided while at home last wknd.

So if anyone thinks that travelling to and from my parents place in Saskatchewan shouldn't be a big deal, they haven't stopped at the Cactus Corner Truck Stop & Cafe, 10 kilometers outside of Hanna, Alberta.
Hanna, as famous for geese hunting as it is infamous for spawning Nickleback, is a halfway point between Calgary and Eston, SK, the latter my hometown and where my parents still reside.

There used to be 2-3 gas stations and a KFC along the highway right of way running by the edge of the town. These days the gas stations are all closed down and only one of the buildings remains, decaying rapidly. The KFC is completely gone, without a trace of the Colonel's secret sauce to mark the spot.

These locally run businesses couldn't compete with the big daddy for long. For not only did the Cactus Corner Truck Stop & Cafe offer assorted fuels and typical gas station fare like potato chips and bungee cords, ice scrapers and beef jerky .. they also had fried chicken! And pizza! And dry ribs and farmer sausage and corn dogs and potato wedges and sausage rolls and hot dogs and tornadoes, with ice cream for desert! Yum-hotdamn-yum.

Let's look at their treats for a moment: click here

Yup, I stopped at this den of iniquity twice, on Thursday and again today. On Thursday I didn't pay for anything except gas and a coffee. Today I bought a turkey sub, which was delicious. I would have liked to get some of that other stuff, as it was sort of a tradition.... but not this day. Okay, not entirely true: I bought some of their teriyaki beef jerky, which comes from the local area and is some of the best stuff anywhere. Oh, it's not what you think, I didn't eat any. It was for my daughter. She offered me a piece (twice) and I politely declined.

Day eight complete & still on track. Tomorrow I'll get to work out again.

Today is the 7th day in a row of eating decently. It's the first time I've gone this long. Honestly, it's been hell. I'm like an alcoholic or a drug addict. It hurts. It sucks. Im not sure if it's worth it. But I will keep going.
My motivation this time around has been to treat it the same as quitting smoking - allowing no slip ups, no almost and no cheating at all. That's probably why it sucks so bad. Before I'd eat good for 3 or 4 days, and then be buying the salt & vinegar chips and dill pickle dip as a reward. Not this time. The only way I was able to quit smoking was cold turkey. Mmm, cold turkey, nom nom nom.

I am happy that I have been able to do this partly on the road. We came to my parents house in Saskatchewan on Thursday, heading back tomorrow. Food on the road is so easy to be junk. And my mom makes wonderful food & deserts. So far I've been able to resist. This morning I scrounged enough willpower to say no to waffles (because i cant eat them without syrup or something), and had toast and eggs instead.

Had 3 squash nights in the past week. There isn't much I can do here in SK, so eating better is even more important.

Pic #1 is a burger from Five Guys that I had the day before day 1, and a delicious salad from last nights dinner. Both were pretty awesome to be honest.

Unlike Mr. Johnson my goals do not currently revolve around bulk, however the statement is so true.
